Fiqah comes from a background in journalism, where the exposure to social and political developments during her time at The Borneo Post encouraged her to delve further into activism. This led to the co-founding of Borneo Speaks together with her journalist colleagues, an alternative media platform born out of a deep love and desire for telling impactful stories from this region, particularly through the narratives of women. Her work in journalism also spring-boarded a stint as stringer/correspondent for The New York Times, as well as public relations and marketing communications work. Beyond journalism and communications, she is deeply passionate about activism and advocacy, particularly in the realms of youth and education. These collective experiences led to her arrival as Content & Learning Experience Designer at Forever Sabah Institute, where she works with a dynamic team to co-design and co-facilitate spaces of learning, collaboration, inspiration and delivery.
